How-To: Cleaning faded, yellow headlight housings

Cleaning, buffing, polishing yellowed headlights

Today I was asked to clean a friends headlights so I snapped the before and after...

Before... opaque to say the least:

After sanding with 600 grit and lots of water.. as you sand you will hear the change in the sanding.

I then followed up with 1200 and lots of water...

I then used my buffer and Brasso Brass polish.... then buffed with a cloth to a luster:

To clean the inside of the lamp housings, I remove the lamp holder or the entire grille.
Remove the Bulb.

Crush up 2 Efferdent Denture Tablets. and insert it to the bulb opening of the lamp housing.

Fill the housing with very warm but not hot water.

Allow to work for one hour, or over night....

Drain water, rinse with warm water, Drain, then gently warm the housing with a hair dryer on hot to evaporate the remaining water.
