VW Vin Decoder

Mk1 Volkswagen VIN Decoder

In an attempt to make it as accurate and detailed as possible for the MK1 models, this VIN decoder ONLY applies to MK1's. All other info has been eliminated.

It pertains to only the following years and models:

  • 1975-1984 Golf / Rabbit
  • 1980-1993 Rabbit Convertible / Cabriolet
  • 1980-1984 Caddy / Pickup
  • 1980-1984 Jetta

  • If you need information on other years and models, just do a search in Google. There are many other online resources for other years and models.

Directons: Enter the VIN number of your Volkswagen into the VIN box at the top, tab out of the field and the information about it will be displayed below. It should work for most VW cars with a 17 digit VIN code (built after 1980). (Example: WVWDC5154NK022496)

    Summary

Usage Notes: 'Z' is used by VW as a 'filler' character in VIN codes. This means the information for that particular part of the VIN is not provided. You'll see them come up as 'undefined' in the VIN Decoder.

Production year runs from August to July. So a car manufactured in October 1992, will be a 1993 model according to the VIN.

Legal disclaimer: This VIN decoder is intended purely for entertainment purposes.
